What to do aboutCommon pool problems

Equipment issues often show clear symptoms before they fail completely. Read our guides to see what different noises, leaks and water conditions can be.

Check your equipment forThese signs of trouble

We compiled a list of the symptoms we see most often on our weekly routes. Find out what you are seeing and when to call a technician.

  • Green Pool Water

Algae growth can point to low chlorine or poor circulation. We test the water to find the underlying cause before treating it.

  • Cloudy Pool Water

Water losing its clarity can be a sign of early algae growth, low chlorine or a dirty filter. Testing the water shows which one.

  • Poor Circulation

Weak return jets can point to a clogged skimmer basket or a dirty filter. This reduces how well your system cleans the water.

  • Pump Noise

A loud whining sound can be worn motor bearings. Rattling noises can point to debris trapped inside the pump basket.

  • Heater Not Heating

A heater failing to turn on can point to low water flow or a failed sensor. Hard water also leaves calcium scale in heaters (LVVWD).

  • Losing Water

Desert pools lose water to evaporation, but dropping levels can point to a leak. We inspect the equipment pad and visible plumbing.

  • High Filter Pressure

A gauge reading higher than normal can be a sign that the filter needs cleaning or that something is restricting the flow.

  • Weak Spa Jets

Low pressure from your jets can point to a dirty filter or a failing spa pump. We check the equipment to locate the restriction.

  • Automation Errors

Error codes on your control panel can be communication failures or sensor faults. We test the system to find out what stopped responding.

  • Salt Cell Warnings

Low salt or inspect cell lights can point to low salt or scale on the cell. Hard water leaves calcium scale on salt cells (LVVWD).
