Algae treatment andGreen pool cleanup

We clear green pools across the Las Vegas valley, starting at $295 after a visual inspection. We treat the algae, run the filtration and balance the chemistry.

  • Final price after inspection
  • Filter cleaning included

Our steps toClear your pool water

We follow a steady process to kill algae and remove it from your water over a series of visits.

  1. Visual assessment

We inspect the water color, test the chemistry and check your pump and filter to make sure the equipment can handle the cleanup.

  2. Heavy shock treatment

We apply liquid chlorine and algaecide to kill the active algae blooms in the water.

  3. Wall brushing

We brush the walls, steps and tile line to detach clinging algae so the chemicals can reach it.

  4. Continuous filtration

Your pump must run continuously to cycle the treated water through the filter and trap the dead algae.

  5. Filter cleaning

We clean your cartridge or DE filter to remove the trapped algae and restore normal water flow.

  6. Return visits

We return to retest the water, brush again and balance the chemistry. Most pools require two to four visits.

Important limits toThe cleanup process

Every green pool is different, and we set clear expectations before we start.

Severity and visits

We cannot promise a final price or completion time before our initial assessment. The number of return visits depends on how severe the algae is, and your equipment must be in working order to filter the debris.

Why we do not just drain it

Draining is not automatically the answer. Las Vegas water rules require draining to the sanitary sewer, and refilling introduces very hard water. A partial drain only makes sense when cyanuric acid levels are too high.

What leads toAlgae and green water

Algae takes over when the water chemistry or circulation fails.

  • Chlorine ran out

When the free chlorine drops below the recommended level of 1 part per million, algae spores can begin to multiply in the water.

  • High cyanuric acid

High cyanuric acid makes your chlorine work more slowly, which can allow algae to grow even when you have chlorine in the pool.

  • A filter that is not cleaning

A dirty filter cannot trap debris properly, leaving the water cloudy and making it harder for the chemicals to work.

  • A summer of heat

Las Vegas experiences weeks of temperatures over 100 degrees, creating a hot environment where algae blooms can take over an unbalanced pool.

  • Monsoon debris

Strong winds and blowing dust from July and August monsoon storms blow organic matter into the pool, adding heavy debris to the water.

  • A pump that stopped

If the pump motor fails or the timer breaks, the circulation stops. Stagnant water provides the right conditions for algae to grow.

How we fixed aNeglected pool recovery

A sample green pool recovery for a newly purchased home in Las Vegas.

  1. The problem

    The assessment

The new homeowners bought a house with a dark green pool. We inspected the equipment and found the pump was working, but the cyanuric acid was extremely high from years of tablet use.

  2. What we did

    The treatment

We performed a partial drain to the sanitary sewer to lower the cyanuric acid, then shocked the water and brushed the walls. We ran the pump continuously to filter out the dead algae.

  3. The result

    The result

After three visits and two filter cleanings, the water was clear and balanced. We started the owners on a Full Care weekly plan to maintain the proper chemistry.

How to stopAlgae from returning

Consistent chemical maintenance and circulation prevent most green pools.

  • Test weekly

Check your free chlorine and pH every week to catch drops in sanitizer.

  • Run the pump

Circulate the water long enough every day to turn over the entire volume of the pool.

  • Clean the filter

Wash your cartridge or backwash your DE filter when the pressure rises.

  • Empty baskets

Clear leaves from the skimmer and pump baskets so water flows freely.

What owners say aboutOur cleanup work

Sample reviews
  • Robert T.

    Green Pool Cleanup

Our pool turned dark green after a monsoon storm blew dust into the water and our pump motor broke. Kingfisher repaired the motor first, then shocked the water and brushed the walls. The water was clear again after a few return visits and filter cleanings.

    Algae Treatment

We bought a house with a neglected pool that had not been maintained for months. Danny did a partial drain to fix the extremely high cyanuric acid, heavily treated the algae, and cleaned the cartridge filter twice to get the water completely clear.

    Pool Recovery

I tried adding chemicals myself but the algae kept returning because I did not realize my cyanuric acid was too high. Kingfisher assessed the water chemistry, lowered the stabilizer, brushed the walls and balanced everything properly over three visits.

Green pool questions

All Questions
Can you clear a green pool in one visit?

No, a proper cleanup requires multiple visits. We have to kill the algae, wait for the filter to remove it, and return to clean the filter and rebalance the water.

Why do you need to inspect the equipment first?

The pump and filter must run continuously to clear the dead algae from the water. If the equipment is broken, we have to repair it before we can treat the algae.

Will draining the pool fix the algae?

Draining is not a shortcut. Refilling adds very hard Las Vegas water to your pool. We only recommend a partial drain if your cyanuric acid is too high for chlorine to work.

Where does the water go if you have to drain?

Local water rules require all pool water to be drained into the sanitary sewer, usually through the home’s sewer clean-out.

Do you offer a one-time cleaning for pools that are not green?

Yes, we offer one-time cleaning visits for pools that just need a brush, vacuum and chemical balance before a party or home sale.
