What you might noticeThe morning after a storm

Summer storms leave behind specific problems that require more than a standard weekly cleaning.

  • Dust and silt on the floor

High winds blow dirt across the valley. It settles on the pool floor and requires heavy brushing and vacuuming.

  • Leaves and branches

Palm fronds and leaves can overwhelm your automatic cleaner, leaving debris floating on the surface and sinking to the bottom.

  • Cloudy water

Cloudy water after a storm can point to debris the filter has not cleared yet, or to low chlorine.

  • A full skimmer

Debris clogs the skimmer basket during a wind event, which chokes the water flow to the pump.

  • High filter pressure

As the filter catches the monsoon dust, the internal pressure rises. The filter will likely need a full cleaning.

  • A pump straining

If the baskets are full of leaves, the pump starves for water and runs louder than normal.

Storm and electrical safety

Stay out of the pool during lightning storms. If you see electrical sparks, smell smoke, or notice water near the electrical equipment, turn the power off at the breaker only if it is safe to do so. Keep everyone away and call NV Energy or 911 if there is any danger.

Understanding the differenceWeekly care versus storm cleanup

We make sure your pool recovers from severe weather, but major storms require a different approach than routine maintenance.

What the weekly visit covers

Your normal weekly route service handles typical wind and daily dust. We skim the surface, empty baskets, brush the walls, and maintain the routine chemicals.

What is billed separately

When a severe monsoon dumps heavy dirt, branches, or mud into the pool, the extra labor and specialty chemicals are billed separately from weekly service as a storm cleanup.

Storm cleanup questions

All Questions
What if my scheduled service falls on a storm day?

If a visit is postponed due to lightning or high wind, the technician will make up the visit within the same week. We do not skip your pool.

Do I have to drain the pool after a dust storm?

Rarely. Most of the time, we can restore the water by cleaning the filter, applying the right chemicals, and vacuuming the dirt. We only recommend draining if the cyanuric acid was already too high.

Will my filter need cleaning?

Yes, severe dust usually packs the filter cartridges or grids. A filter cleaning is often necessary after a monsoon storm and is billed separately unless you are on the Full Care Plus plan.

Is storm cleanup included in my weekly service plan?

No, monsoon and storm cleanup is billed separately from weekly service. This covers the extra time needed to remove heavy debris and dust, clear the filter, and rebalance the water.
