What happens onFreezing winter nights
The Las Vegas valley sees about ten freezing nights a year, mostly in December and January. Still water inside exposed pipes and equipment can freeze and cause severe damage, which is why circulation must keep moving.
Moving water rarely freezes
Pools that stay open must run their pumps on cold nights. Moving water resists freezing better than still water.
Freeze sensors
Many automation systems use an air temperature sensor to turn the pump on automatically when the temperature drops near freezing.
Without automation
If you have a mechanical timer instead of an automation system, the pump must be scheduled to run through the coldest hours of the night.
Damage is not covered
Freeze damage when circulation was turned off is excluded from our company warranty.
