Working across theCity of Las Vegas

Incorporated in 1911, the city of Las Vegas relies on water delivered by the Las Vegas Valley Water District. This supply sits at 280 ppm total hardness, which is very hard. Our weekly service manages the water balance to address calcium scale at the tile line, in heaters and on salt cells.

When the July heat pushes the average high above 104 degrees, your pool loses water to evaporation. The Southern Nevada Water Authority notes an average in-ground pool loses 48.6 gallons per square foot each year. Topping up with hard water raises calcium over time.

If you plan to build or renovate, the city requires LVVWD approval for pool permits. Under the Southern Nevada rules, single-family pools, spas and water features permitted after September 1, 2022 are limited to 600 square feet of combined surface area.

Local conditions forValley swimming pools

Our climate puts heavy demand on outdoor equipment. We check these areas during every maintenance visit.

  • Hard water scale

The valley water supply sits at 280 ppm total hardness. This very hard water leaves calcium scale at the tile line and in heaters.

  • Summer evaporation

An average pool loses 48.6 gallons per square foot each year to evaporation. Topping up with hard tap water raises the calcium over time.

  • Monsoon debris

Summer storms blow dust and leaves into the water during July and August. We clear baskets, which is included with our weekly maintenance.

  • Salt cell buildup

Hard water leaves calcium scale on salt cells. We inspect the cell every three months, and cleaning is billed separately when scale is found.
