Explore the details of our weekly pool maintenance plans. We outline water testing, cleaning tasks, chemical additions and equipment checks.

Consistent weekly care

When you arrange weekly pool service, you should know what each visit covers and how to find out what happened while you were away. We assign a set weekly service day and send the same technician whenever the route allows. You do not need to be home, provided our technician has safe gate access, the dogs are secured and the equipment is reachable. We close and latch gates behind us. If lightning or high winds prevent a visit, we make it up within the same week. The aim is to keep the service routine clear and the work documented from one visit to the next.

The maintenance checklist

Each visit includes emptying the skimmer and pump baskets, testing the water, adding routine chemicals and looking over the equipment. Our technicians check filter pressure and inspect the pump, filter, heater and timer or automation for leaks, unusual noises or error codes. Chemical Care covers the testing, routine chemicals, basket cleaning and equipment look over. Full Care and Full Care Plus also include skimming the surface, brushing the walls, steps and tile line, vacuuming where needed and checking the water level. After each weekly visit, we email a report with the work completed, equipment observations, technician notes and a pool photo.

Water testing and chemistry

Water appearance alone does not tell you everything about its condition. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that clear water can still carry germs, which is why regular testing matters. Its recommended pool pH range is 7.0 to 7.8. Free chlorine should be at least 1 ppm, or at least 2 ppm when cyanuric acid is used. We test free chlorine, pH and total alkalinity each week, and test cyanuric acid and calcium hardness monthly. On salt pools, we also check salt levels. Routine chemicals include chlorine, acid for pH and alkalinity, and stabilizer as the readings call for it.

Included chemicals and filter cleaning

Routine chemicals are included in all three maintenance plans, but specialty chemicals are billed separately. These may include algaecide, phosphate remover, stain and scale treatments, or salt top ups. Filter cleaning is handled separately from the weekly basket and equipment checks. Full Care Plus includes cartridge or DE filter cleaning four times a year. On other plans, cartridge cleaning is $95 and DE filter cleaning is $115. For salt pools, we inspect the salt cell every three months. If we find scale that requires cell cleaning, that cleaning is billed separately except on Full Care Plus.

How Kingfisher Pool & Spa helps

Our plans are priced monthly, with weekly visits and no long contract. Chemical Care is $95 a month, Full Care is $149 and Full Care Plus is $189. Full Care is designed for pools up to about 20,000 gallons, with larger pools quoted separately. Full Care Plus also covers an attached spa, includes four filter cleanings a year and quarterly salt cell inspection and cleaning, and offers 10 percent off repairs. New weekly customers can receive $50 off the first month. If an item on our checklist is missed, call within 48 hours and the technician will return to put it right.
