Understanding whatPool resurfacing involves

Resurfacing replaces the interior shell coating of your pool. Over years of exposure, the original finish can become rough, stained or worn. A technician can inspect the surface and tell you whether resurfacing is due.

It may be time to consider replacement when brushing and chemical balancing can no longer keep the surface clean or comfortable. We can assess the condition and provide a written estimate for the work.

Kingfisher drains the old water to the sanitary sewer, prepares the concrete shell, and applies your choice of plaster, quartz or pebble. We also handle the startup chemistry following the plaster maker’s schedule.

Call us for a lookWhen you notice these signs

The intense sun and very hard water in our valley take a toll on pool interiors over time.

  • Rough texture

A surface that feels like coarse sandpaper can point to a worn finish.

  • Stubborn stains

Deep mineral stains that do not respond to acid washing or stain treatment can point to a finish that needs replacing.

  • Plaster flaking off

Sections of the finish peeling or chipping away can point to a worn finish that a technician should evaluate.

  • Chalky residue

A constant white cloud in the water when brushed can point to a worn finish.

  • Unexplained water loss

A surface that no longer holds up to brushing can point to a worn finish.

  • Severe discoloration

Mottled or faded areas can point to a finish at the end of its life.

Questions about resurfacing

All Questions
What is the difference between plaster and pebble?

We offer plaster, quartz and pebble finishes. Plaster and pebble are natural materials, so color variation and normal wear are not defects.

Where does the old pool water go?

The water district requires pool water to be drained into the sanitary sewer, usually through the home’s clean-out, never into the street or a storm drain.

Do I get a warranty on the new finish?

Yes. Kingfisher provides a two-year workmanship warranty on resurfacing. Color variation and normal wear are natural and are not covered as defects.

Who handles the startup chemistry?

Kingfisher handles the initial startup chemistry. New finishes require specific balancing, and we follow the plaster maker’s schedule.
